Household Insurance

Household insurance is extremely important and provides cover for what is generally considered to be a persons largest single investment and their greatest asset. Financial protection in respect of the building and its contents will never replace the shock of losing your home to a fire or similar catastrophe, however, it will help, in the short term, by providing you with temporary accommodation until such time that the home has been rebuilt or refurbished to a habitable condition.

Buildings insurance in particular is crucial not only for the reason mentioned above. No lender will provide money for a property unless adequate insurance protection is in place at the time of the purchase.

Even if buildings insurance itself is not required, perhaps because you live in rented accommodation, then serious consideration should be given to insurance cover in respect of your own Contents and Personal Effects. Again, in the event of a fire or serious loss, you would not only have to deal with the after affects of losing your property but you would need to make immediate arrangements for the replacement of articles, be they clothing and personal effects or simply general household goods. In the absence of adequately arranged insurance cover, you would have to bear this cost yourself.

As with motor insurance policies there are now a considerable number of contracts available on the market both from direct writers, telesales operations and of course Insurance Brokers. We firmly believe that it is essential to maintain contact with our clients on a regular basis in order to allow for change in circumstances i.e. marriage, starting a family or simply moving address as this has an inevitable affect on the insurance cover in place. Unlike call centre operations, this connection between Policyholder and Broker enables us to monitor these changes and perhaps suggest modifications to policy cover or perhaps a complete change of insurance contract if it is considered that the changes proposed warrant this option.
